I Lost Myself in Motherhood—And Then I Found Something Deeper

I didn’t realize how far I’d drifted from myself until I heard my own voice—sharp, tired, unfamiliar—snapping at my child over something small. That moment was the mirror I couldn’t look away from.

It wasn’t about the dishes in the sink, the unfinished homework, or the never-ending to-do list. It was the hollow echo inside me. The feeling that I was constantly giving… but disappearing in the process.

Motherhood has a way of swallowing us whole—not all at once, but in tiny pieces. We trade sleep for midnight feedings. We trade spontaneity for schedules. We trade dreams for duty. And somewhere in that silent exchange, we stop hearing our own voice.

I thought something was wrong with me. I had what I was supposed to want—a family, a home, a full life. And yet I felt depleted, disconnected, and quietly resentful. The guilt only made it worse. Why can’t I just be grateful?

But here’s what I’ve come to understand:

You’re not ungrateful.

You’re not broken.

And you’re definitely not alone.

The truth is, I didn’t need to go back to who I was before motherhood. I needed to become someone new—someone anchored in herself, awake to her power, and willing to rewrite the rules.

This blog is the beginning of that story.

A story of reclaiming joy.

Of setting boundaries.

Of reconnecting to purpose.

Of finding freedom—not in escaping motherhood, but in rising through it.

If you’ve ever asked yourself, Where did I go?

Or quietly whispered, There has to be more than this…

You’re in the right place.

You are not lost—you’re just buried beneath the noise.

And the journey back to yourself isn’t about doing more. It’s about remembering who you’ve always been.

If these words speak to something deep inside you, you’re not alone.

I wrote Beyond Overwhelmed to walk beside you as you find your way home.
